Daily Chandi Yagam:-
Nithiya Mangala Chandi Yagam: A spiritual event of great power and devotion at
SRI DANVANTRI MAHA PEEDAM, WALAJAPET.
Since time immemorial, Hindus have sought to attain spiritual growth through the chanting of mantras and performing Havans/Homas/Yagna/Yagam. The purpose behind performing Yagnas is to concentrate the power of the mantras and personify the deity in the fire and offer prayers and offerings to the sacred fire. Agni or the sacred fire is the ultimate purifier, and mantra offered through Agni becomes more potent and powerful.
A very significant Homa (Yagna) in the worship of the Divine Mother is the Nithiya Mangala Chandi yagam. This invokes the various forms of the Supreme Mother and worships Her in the form of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati. The Durga Saptasati is recited with the Maha Chandi Beeja Mantra. This Homam has the ability to cleanse the soul of the devotee and elevate him to a higher spiritual plane. This Homam also removes obstacles in one's path to attain salvation and purifies the soul to receive the divine grace of the Mother Goddess.
Chapter 1, Verse 75-77 of the Devi Mahatmyam states "By you this universe is borne, by you this world is created. By you it is protected." The creative, protective and destructive force of Devi is elaborated in the verses and the mere listening of the Devi Mahatmyam has the effect of bestowing intellect and victory over one's weaknesses. Devi Mahatmyam is considered a complete work on the worship of Maha Chandi Devi comprising 700 verses. These verses appear in Markandeya Purana in the form of a Rishi recounting the powers of Shakti, the Eternal Mother in three forms-Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi and Maha Saraswati.
The power of the Mangala Chandi Homam goes far beyond the devotee's spiritual growth. Temples attempt to perform this powerful yagam often to ensure the welfare of the community. Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam of Walajapet will be performing the Kumbabisheka Vibavam for Sri iswarya Prathiyankira Devi Temple from 5th March 2015.
On Thursday (5th) evening, 16 Suvasinis (women) will perform the Deepa Puja and invoke the Divine Mother in the form of Deepa or lamp to the chanting of Lalitha Trisathi (300 verses in praise of Goddess Lalitha. The significance of such a group puja is that each devotee derives the benefit of the total number of chants recited. The following day (Friday) will feature a Lakshmi Puja that can be performed by any individual. A very special part of these celebrations will include children reciting portions of the Devi Mahatmyam seeking the blessings of the Divine Mother in gaining attributes of intellect, good health, calmness of mind amongst other qualities and performing prostrations at the yagam venue. This practice is similar to the Bhagavati Seva in the temples of Kerala. The offering of these special pujas constitute the important aspects of Chandi Yagam.
A special sign up link has been provided on the Danvantri Peedam website, (www.danvantritemple.org) to register for this puja and other pujas that will be performed on daily basis by 4.00p.m to 7.00 p.m.
Danvantri Peedam takes pride in performing these unique Yagnas for the welfare of the community and the Global Welfare Nithiya Mangala Chandi Yagam has become a major part of the temple's community oriented events. Events such as this where devotees directly participate in pujas have helped amplify the benefits of these pujas thereby benefitting the devotee, the community as well as preserve and propagate the rich heritage of Hinduism. For this year's Nithiya Mangala Chandi Yagam 2015.
Danvantri Peedam invites everyone to participate in this Nitya Mangala Chandi Yagam event and receive the bountiful blessings of the Divine Mother – Sri Chandika Devi.
